September 2006 Exhibiton Update
Recently, Nativity School hosted 80 people (15 adults and 65 students) from Hungary, the Netherlands, Germany and Russia as a part of the Friendship Project. Together with Nativity School students, they hosted workshops on poetry writing, the artist Keith Haring, and public art. In one session the group wrote “I am from…” poems like the ones used for the handmade books exhibited at ODE.
As a final event, everyone broke up into multicultural groups and began work on an outdoor mural. First, the groups laid out the mural with sidewalk chalk. Then they painted in the images. The project took two days and the final mural is about 100 feet long and six feet high.
